Epirus

An area with ancient establishments, impressive landscape diversity, cute coastal villages, serene esplanades. The Regional Unit of Preveza and its towns and villages combine everything that is needed in order to thrill every visitor!

After the desolation of Ancient Nikopolis, the city of Preveza, established in the 12th century, takes over as the new administrative and financial center of Thesprotia. Today, with its picturesque alleys, the wonderful walk along the Amvrakikos, its neoclassical buildings and its fascinating cultural events is considered an essential stop on your ride around the Epirus Riviera.

The amphitheatrically built “Nymph of Epirus” town of Parga is just a short ride away from Preveza and is one of the must-see’s of the area. Some of the reasons that make a visit worthwhile are the Castle, standing imposingly at the highest point of the town, the Island of Panagia with the chapel, the beautiful alleys and the paved promenade by the sea, as well as for the nearby Valtos, Kryoneri and Lychnos with their distinct crystal clear waters.

During your getaway in the Regional Unit of Preveza, a stopover in the village of Kamarina should not be skipped, above which prevails the rock from where the Souliotisses (the heroic women of Souli) fell; there lies the monument dedicated to the Souliotisses in Zalongo as well. For those of you who have a soft spot for the Nature and the adventure, the village of Gliki is the ideal starting point for the exploration of river Acheron, while the coastal settlements of Ammoudia and Kastrosykia will charm you with the hypnotizing sea breeze of the Ionian Sea.
