The coastline of Epirus emphatically shows that this is an area suitable for a year-round visit! Despite the fact that Epirus is known primarily for its wild, dominant mountain peaks and stone-built bridges in the gorges, it nevertheless possesses countless beaches, fishing villages, coves and islets, making it an excellent summer destination.
Hundreds of kilometers of beaches–of which 11 are awarded the Blue Flag international recognition–, rocky and lush green coves reminiscent of “fjords”, villages and lagoons, compose one of the most diverse coastal sceneries to be found in Greece. From Sagiada, the fishing village with the colorful boats in the north all the way down to Preveza in the south, the Riviera of Epirus promises to fulfill every wish, every summer dream, whether what you are looking for is tranquility or rather more intense holidays on the bays. Treks in the Nature by the sea, water sports and day-cruises, excursions to archeological sites, beach-hopping, wildlife observation, sightseeing. Everything can be combined in the same trip on the coastal side of Epirus.
More specifically, in addition to the walk in the esplanade of Preveza, and boating around the secluded beaches and islets in Parga and Sivota, may we suggest activities such as bird watching, bottle-nosed dolphin watching in the Amvrakikos Gulf, as well as lying on the sandy beach of Monolithi, the largest in Europe with 25km of bay, as well as swimming in the crystal clear waters surrounded by lush pine forest in Alonaki and Lichnos. Access to most of the beaches of Epirus is easy through asphalt roads, or else through hiking trails or even in some cases by boat from the sea.
