Horse Riding

Back in the day, this used to be an activity accessible only to the nobles, however today it has become an exciting sport for everyone to enjoy. Horse riding with trained horses in thick forests, valleys and the rivers of Epirus is a fantastic way to get in direct contact with Nature, whether these incredibly patient and kind animals lead you to the Ionian Sea, along the river Acheron or the magnificent plane tree forest next to river Voidomatis.

A well-known route that the locals love to try with the horses is galloping through river Acheron during the hot summer months, which of course is combined with a swim in the icy waters of the river, as well as with a glass of homemade tsipouro after the ride. On the other hand, if you are in Tzoumerka you will have the opportunity to come across and ride “Pindos horse”, a rare old breed found in the Pindos mountain range that resembles the pony. Ride your way along the banks of river Arachthos with them and try crossing the path of the Otter (To Monopati tis Vidras) as well.
