Bourazani
Environmental Park of Bourazani expands in an area of over 1500 acres. The visitor can stay at the namesake hotel and admire six species of mammals, which live and breed freely into the forest.
The animals of the park, used to live freelly across the Balkan peninsula, in large numbers. The merciless hunt, however, the fragmentation of habitats and the increased human activities, led the populations of large mammals into decline or extinction. Today the Wildlife Park hosts the following species: the roe deer, the fallow deer, the Cretan ibex, the deer, the mouflon (Ovis aries mussimon) and the wild boar. The Park is open to the public and receives dozens of visitors daily.
The tour ends in the spacious and newly built premises of the Newsstand for the Environmental Education and at the interesting Natural History Museum. In the museum you can admire some of the species of flora and fauna of the wider Bourazani – Aoos region.
Finally, in the restaurant you can taste many local specialties and meat from the wild animals of the farm. Most dishes are prepared according to traditional recipes, from the owner’s family. If you also take some time on touring around the area, you will find taverns and restaurants at the surrounding villages.
