The delicacies of Pamvotida

The most peculiar yet traditional delicacy of Ioannina is frog’s legs. Its flavour reminiscent of chicken, frog’s legs are a delicacy inextricably linked with life on the Island of Lake Pamvotida. Like the crayfish and eel, they are served with tsipouro and can be sampled in the island’s restaurants, after a walk through the picturesque streets or a tour of the impressive monasteries. The frog’s legs are usually pan-fried in beer batter and served hot.
