Dodoni is bounded by the mountains of Souli, Olytsika and Xerovouni, and includes the Dodonea valley, the villages of Lakka Souliou and Selli, as well as the areas around the springs of the Louros River in Vouliasta and those of the Acherontas River which start in the foothills of the Souli mountain range.
The peaceful natural environment combines with the rich historical heritage of the area, a history which begins with mythology and antiquity and concludes with the events leading up to the liberation of Ioannina.
The oracle shrine of ancient Dodoni is an important world cultural heritage monument and was the oldest oracle in Greek territories. The ancient theater of Dodoni is one of the largest and best-preserved ancient Greek theatres.
The Gates of Hades at Seriziana and the springs of the River Acheron at Sistrouni, circled by rugged terrain with waters that vanish into the depths of the gorge, complete a landscape that inspires awe and vindicates ancient beliefs. The Byzantine Church of the Taxiarches (Archangels) at Kostaniani, built at the end of the 13th century, is of considerable interest. Olytsika, the Souli mountain range and the footpaths and the area around the Louros springs with their picturesque lake, are ideal for hiking or trekking, as well as mountain biking.
The seat of the Municipality of Dodoni is the settlement of Agia Kyriaki Theriakisiou.
