Useful information

Accessing Epirus is an easy task and is achieved effortlessly through the state-of-the-art road infrastructure, the 2 airports in the area, as well as by sea.

If you choose to get to Epirus by road, our land is easily accessible via the highways and the many provincial roads. From Athens, your trip will be nice and comfortable, since through the E65 highways Olympia Odos (also known as Motorway A8) and Ionia Odos (Motorway A5) you will reach Arta in about 3.5 hours and Ioannina in 4 hours. If your departure point is a city in Northern Greece (for example the Regions of Macedonia or Thrace), then Egnatia Odos Motorway is your best bet: the trip from Thessaloniki, which takes place entirely on the highway, takes about 3.5 hours to Ioannina. Also, the KTEL buses operate on a daily basis from Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras and other major cities of Greece to Ioannina, Arta, Igoumenitsa, Preveza, but also many villages of Epirus.

As for the airports, Epirus is reached through the “Vassilevs Pyrros” National Airport located a mere 4 km away from the heart of Ioannina, while only 10 minutes away from Preveza is the Aktion National Airport Aktio, which administratively belongs to the Region of Western Greece, however it perfectly suits your trip to Epirus. Daily flights from Athens and Thessaloniki to both airports bring Epirus closer than ever!

By ferry, the ports of Epirus are located along the Riviera, as ferries to and from Corfu, Patras and several ports of Italy operate routes to Preveza and Igoumenitsa. More specifically, passenger ships dock in the ports of these two cities coming from the Italian ports of Brindisi, Bari, Ancona and Trieste and these itineraries are more frequent during the summer months.
