Religious Heritage in Preveza

In the area of Preveza there are many important monasteries and historic churches. Many are Byzantine monasteries and churches built with meticulous care, decorated with exceptional icon paintings executed by famous painters. Typical examples are the churches of Agios Charalambos and Agios Athanasios, as well as the church of Agios Konstantinos. At Neochori in Preveza, one can admire the Church of the Holy Trinity. You can also see the church of Profitis Ilias, which suffered desecration during the Turkish occupation, but it has been restored and reborn from its ashes, keeping alive the religious traditions of centuries past.

Our recommendation: Visit the Archaeological Museum of Nikopolis, the Yannis Moralis Municipal Art Gallery, and the Municipal Maritime Museum in the town of Preveza. The monastery of Agia Pelagia, a short distance south of the village of Kastrosikia, and Lekatsa Monastery in Kortos, 4 km northwest of the village of Myrsini settlement are very much worth a visit.
