Thesprotia

In the lush green capital of Thesprotia, Igoumenitsa, walk on the main pedestrian street where you will stumble upon shops with products such as olives, the magnificent extra virgin olive oil of the area, the tsipouro spirit, cheese and sausages.

The greatest attraction is focused on the picturesque town of Paramythia and “Lambovo”, a seven-day bazaar, the largest and oldest bazaar of Epirus that takes place every October. Back in the day, Lambovos was more than just a simple trade fair, it was rather the biggest social event of the era where friends and relatives met again after a while, even weddings were held. As for the products, in the past you would find everything! From handmade “flokates” rugs, jackets, to spices, wheat and … the dancing brown bear! Today Lambovos is reviving this social event with local goods, edible or not. And no, definitely no dancing bears anymore!
